Machine IDs

This is where you will need to enter your NinjaTrader Machine ID so you can connect your website account to your FSPriceAlerts NinjaTrader Indicator that we'll download in another step.

Now we'll link your Machine ID to your website account by copying your Machine ID from NinjaTrader and pasting into Machine ID 1.

Open NinjaTrader 8 now if it's not already open.  Go to your NinjaTrader Control Center and click **Help** (Labeled 1 in image) and then click **About** (Labeled 2 in image).  Then come back here and click **Next**.

Now either **double click** on your Machine ID or **click and drag your mouse** to select your Machine ID (Labeled 1 in image).

**IMPORTANT - Make sure your entire Machine ID is selected. If even one character is missed, it will not match.**

Once your Machine ID is highlighted, **right-click** your Machine ID and click **Copy** (Labeled 2 in image).  Then you can click OK to close the **About** window in NinjaTrader.  Then come back here and click **Next**.

We'll use your **Machine ID 1** slot for this Machine ID.  Notice you can have up to 3 Machine IDs associated with your account.  Click **Edit**.

clicking in highlighted area

In a previous step, you clicked **Copy** on your Machine ID.  Now, **right-click** inside the highlighted textbox and click **Paste** to paste your Machine ID.  Then click **Next**.

**Tip:** You can also use a keyboard shortcut to paste, such as **Ctrl-V** in Windows

Click Save New Machine ID!

Click Downloads

Click Download

Please read the EULA and **IF YOU AGREE**, please take the following steps:

1. **Check the box** to show the Download button.

2. **Click Download** to start the download of the indicator file.

3. **Click Next** to move to the next step.

Open NinjaTrader 8 now if you don't already have it open. Once NinjaTrader is open, open the NT8 Control Center and click **Tools** (Labeled 1 in the image) and then **Import** (Labeled 2 in the image) and finally, click **NinjaScript Add-On...** (Labeled 3 in the image). Then come back here and click **Next**.

NinjaTrader 8 should open a file explorer window that will allow you to select the file you downloaded in the previous step. In my case, the file downloaded to my **Downloads** folder (Labeled 1 in the image).  Select the **FSPriceAlerts** file you downloaded (Labeled 2 in the image) by clicking on it.  Then, click **Open** (Labeled 3 in the image) to import it into NinjaTrader 8.  Once you have imported the indicator, come back here and click **Next**.

**NOTE: You may need to authorize NinjaTrader 8 to allow importing 3rd party add-ons.  Also, don't worry if the file version (*1_0_0_0* in the image) is different than yours. You may have a newer version than in this example.**

Now that you've imported the FSPriceAlerts indicator, we need to add it to a chart. Open a chart that you want to use as a test.  Then, inside the chart window, either press the hot key to open the **Indicators** window (Ctrl + I in Windows by default) or right-click the chart and select **Indicators** (Labeled 1 in the image).  Then come back here and click **Next**.

Now we'll add the indicator to the chart. Scroll down to FSPriceAlerts and click on it to select it (Labeled 1 in the image).  Then click **add** (Labeled 2 in the image). Then come back here and click **Next**.

Type your Username from your website account into the Username box (Labeled 1 in the image). In this case, we're using the Username **demoUser**, but you will use your own unique Username you picked when you signed up.

For your convenience, your Username is: **{userName}**

Once you have entered (or copied and pasted) your Username into the indicator window, click **OK** (Labeled 2 in the image). Then come back here and click **Next**.

**NOTE: We recommend for now that you leave all of the FSPriceAlerts Properties at their default values. Once you successfully send your first alert, feel free to customize these values as you see fit.**

For these next steps, including **sending your first alert**, you'll need to be connected to a **Data Feed**. We strongly recommend connecting to NinjaTrader's **Simulated Data Feed** for this demo by first going to your NinjaTrader **Control Center** and clicking **Connections** (Labeled 1 in the image) and then clicking on **Simulated Data Feed** (Labeled 2 in the image). Then come back here and click **Next**.

**Tip:** If it is the weekend, you might need to open the chart's **Data Series** window and set **Trading hours** to **Default 24 x 7** to make sure you receive the simulated data.

After you enter your Username and click **OK**, if you are currently connected to a data feed, you should see your remaining Alerts and Cancels in the lower left corner of your chart (Labeled 1 in the image).  If you just signed up, your values for each type should look exactly like the image below.

These values show you how many of each Alert Type and how many Cancels you have left for the month.  We have detailed information on how many of each Alert Type and Cancels you receive for each plan on our Pricing page or within the members area under **Manage Plan**.

**Please note that we give everyone one free Email Alert and one free Order Cancellation so you can see them in action in this demo!**

**Tip:** You can always hide this information or customize its text color, size, and even location on the chart by going into the **FSPriceAlerts indicator properties** and using the section titled **Remaining Stats**.  For example, to hide these values you would uncheck **Show Remaining Stats** and then click **OK.**

We recommended that you connect to the **Simulated Data Feed** before. One great feature of that is the **Trend Control**, shown below. You can click and drag the handle to change the trend direction and strength, which will come in very handy for this demo when we want price to hit an **Alert Line** and **Cancel Line**.  Click **Next** to set up your first **Alert Line**!

For this demo, we'll make it fast and easy to get your first alert sent by using a **Horizontal Line** along with the **Trend Control** to steer price to our line.  First, add a **Horizontal Line** to your chart (Labeled 1 in the image). Then come back here and click **Next** so we can show you how to turn this ordinary **Horizontal Line** into an **Alert Line**.

**Note: For now, leave the line farther away from price as the image shows. You can easily drag the Alert Line to change the price, but we don't want to accidentally trigger an alert before we're ready.**

As you'll see, it's incredibly fast and easy to turn your **Horizontal Line** into an **Alert Line**.

Simply double-click on the **Horizontal Line** to open its **Properties** window as shown in the image below.  Next, add the word **alert** at the end of the Tag value (Labeled 1 in the image).  Then click **OK** (Labeled 2 in the image) to save the new Tag value.

That's it!!  The **Horizontal Line** is now an **Alert Line**.  This means that **if price touches the line**, you will receive an alert on **all enabled communication channels**.  We only had you enable **Email Alerts** for this demo, so you'll receive an email with the alert. However, if you are on a plan that allows **Text Alerts** and **Call Alerts**, you would receive those types of alerts if you had them enabled too.

Click **Next** to get to the fun part. We'll actually force price to touch the line so you receive your **first alert**!

**NOTE: You can change the word you use to enable alerts from _alert_ to something else by editing the FSPriceAlerts indicator Properties value called _Custom Alert Tag_.**

In order to receive your first alert, we'll force price to hit the line.  We'll do this using the **Trend Control**. If price is **below** your **Alert Line** like mine is, turn your **Trend Control** all the way up as shown in the **first image below**.

**Note:**  If price is **above** your **Alert Line**, then simply turn your **Trend Control** all the way down instead.

Price should steadily move toward your **Alert Line** until it hits it **as shown in the image below**, where price pierced up and through my **Alert Line**.  Click **Next** to check out your alert you should have received!

Check your inbox for your email address that you entered in your **Account Dashboard**.  For your convenience, it is **{email}**.

You should see an email from **alert@fspricealerts.com** as shown in the image with several important details about the **Price Alert**. These are:

 - **Instrument (ES below)**

 - **Contract (06-20 below)**

 - **Price (2784.5 below)**

Click **Next** for the final step in the alert demo.

Now that you've set everything up, adding a new **Alert Line** to your chart only takes a few seconds! Simply follow these steps:

1. Add any of the 4 line types:

 - **Horizontal Line**

 - **Extended Line**

 - **Line**

 - **Ray**

2. Then, add the **custom alert tag** to the line's Tag. By default, the **custom alert tag** is simply **alert**. You can change the value of the **custom alert tag** in the indicator Properties.

3. Adjust your line to the **price level** at which you want to be alerted by simply clicking and dragging the line within the chart.

4. Rest assured knowing you'll be alerted if price reaches that level! :)

**IMPORTANT:** Make sure that you have at least 1 alert left for the month for each **communication channel** that you want to receive alerts on. For example, if you only have **Text Alerts** enabled and you have 0 Texts left for the month, **you will not receive an alert** when price hits your line.  **Remember the widget on the chart will tell you how many of each alert type, including cancels, you have remaining for the month.**

In this bonus, we'll quickly show you the power of our **Order Cancellation Lines**. You set them up almost exactly like **Alert Lines**, except you'll use a different value for the Tag, and they behave very differently when hit.

When price hits an **Order Cancellation Line**, all open orders are cancelled, but **only if you do not have any open positions**. If you have any open positions, nothing will happen.  **This is to make sure we don't interfere with your current Target or Stop orders.**

Click **Next** to set up and use your first **Order Cancellation Line**.

This will be very similar to enabling the **Alert Line** we just saw. On the same chart that we just used, set your **Trend Control** to **Neutral (middle)**. Then make sure your **Horizontal Line** is far enough away from price not to be accidentally hit.

Move the **Horizontal Line** below price for this example as shown in the image below.  Next, make sure your Sim101 account is selected and add a **Sell Limit** order **FAR ABOVE** the current price level so it doesn't accidentally get filled as shown in the image.

Click **Next** to continue.

Double-click the **Horizontal Line** and replace the word **alert** with the word **cancel** (Labeled 1 in the image). This will enable the line as an **Order Cancellation Line** and will cancel all open orders when hit by price **if you are not in any open positions**.

Click **OK** to save the new Tag value (Labeled 2 in the image). Then come back here and click **Next** to continue.

**NOTE: You can change the word you use to enable Order Cancellation Lines from _cancel_ to something else by editing the FSPriceAlerts indicator Properties value called _Cancel Orders Tag_.**

In order to cancel your open order, we'll force price to hit the line.  We'll do this using the **Trend Control**. If price is **above** your **Order Cancellation Line** like mine is, turn your **Trend Control** all the way down as shown in the **first image below**.

**Note:**  If price is **below** your **Order Cancellation Line**, then simply turn your **Trend Control** all the way up instead.

**Watch price and your Order Cancellation Line closely so you don't miss the order cancellation happen!** Price should steadily move toward your **Order Cancellation Line** until it hits it **as shown in the image below**, where price pierced down and through the **Order Cancellation Line**. Notice when price hits your line, your open order automatically cancels!

Click **Next** for the final step!

Congratulations on setting up and quickly understanding how to use this powerful tool to send yourself **Price Alerts** and automatically cancel all open orders with **Order Cancellation Lines**.
